Although Taqueria 27 has four different locations in the Salt Lake area, it is still a relatively new restaurant that has made its mark on Utah’s taco industry. The Story of T27
Taqueria 27’s head chef, Todd Gardiner, is no stranger to the restaurant industry. He started his first job in the restaurant business at 12, working in a restaurant with his mom. Being exposed to the food industry at such a young age made him passionate about working his way up to head chef.
The journey from busboy to certified chef was a long one. After a short hiatus from the industry, Todd returned as a prep cook. Here he learned all about efficiency in a kitchen and mastered the trade of cooking from scratch.
He took the skills from Log Haven’s kitchen and applied them to his cooking style. After leaving Log Haven’s kitchen, he went to work at Z Tejas, where he got an inside look at the operational side of running a business.
Outside of the Box Tacos
It was at Z Tejas that Todd dreamed up Taqueria 27. Once the board rejected his design and layout, he ventured out to start Taqueria 27 on his own. By integrating unique fresh ingredients with a traditional taco concept, Todd was able to bring a variety of dishes to his restaurant.
Taqueria is more than your run-of-the-mill taco restaurant. They have unique tacos that are sure to make your mouth water. At Taqueria 27, you can find three different versions of guacamole, delicious cocktails, and even tacos with duck!
