Few people love stories more than Kaitlyn Rowbotham.

Storytelling is a huge part of her role as the marketing strategist. What’s even more interesting, though, is the story of how she landed here at Elle Marketing and Events.

Getting to Know the Team: Kaitlyn Rowbotham

Born and raised in Utah, Kaitlyn graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah.

Her love for stories compelled her to major in journalism. However, she changed her mind after realizing how anxiety-inducing that environment was.

Thankfully, she’d taken a few marketing classes and realized journalism wasn’t the only way to tell stories.

The change proved to be the right choice, as it was the perfect way for her to express her creativity and help clients tell their stories.

She also attained a certificate in marketing from Ensign College. Then, after working for a couple of years, she got her master’s degree in Digital Audience Strategy from Arizona State University.

Seizing Opportunities

In 2019, Kaitlyn Rowbotham attended a women’s networking group event. As luck would have it, Lydia Martinez was the keynote speaker. They connected and went their separate ways.

For a school project two years later, Kaitlyn interviewed Lydia, Elle Marketing and Events founder. She must have left an impression because Lydia called Kaitlyn after graduation about a job opening.

Looking back, Kaitlyn can’t believe that the power of networking led her to this incredible opportunity.

A Day in the Life

One of her favorite parts of being a marketing strategist is helping clients see the big picture. This, she believes, is the key to driving business to her clients.

As part of her job, Kaitlyn studies how the brand has told its story in the past and reinvents it for the future. Through this careful workshopping, the brand draws in more clients.

Best of all, she works with a whole lot of badass women.

Kaitlyn’s Not-So-Secret Interests

Kaitlyn Rowbotham is an avid bookworm who consumes anything she can get her hands on.

Currently, she is reading We Need to Talk by Andrea Lee, but she’s also got a 600-page biography waiting for her, too.

If she were to name a book that’s changed her life, she would say it was Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Her favorite quote from the book is, “You are a goddamn cheetah.”

She even framed the quote on her bookshelf, so she remembers her words.  If you’re not happy with life, why not change it?

Other than reading, Kaitlyn loves to travel. Last year, she hiked 300 miles with her friend. One of her favorite spots is Cecret Lake in Alta, Utah.
